EASEE-gas study Optimum Hydrogen Purity in Europe

This study, prepared by the EASEE‑gas Gas Quality Harmonisation Working Group, examines the optimal hydrogen purity level for Europe using a techno‑economic modelling approach. Building on previous national research and adapting it to a European context, the report assesses hydrogen purity requirements across the value chain, from production and transport to storage and end use, with the objective of identifying a level that minimises overall system costs. The study also highlights key assumptions and limitations, providing important insights to support ongoing discussions on hydrogen market development and gas quality harmonisation in Europe.
