Cyber security and geopolitics debated during general meeting of EASEE-gas in Vienna

EASEE-gas held its General Meeting of Members (GMoM) in Vienna, Austria, yesterday, 19 March 2015. This year’s event included presentations by two experts on cyber security and geopolitics: Paul Bloemen, ICT Security Manager at the Nederlandse Gasunie and Chair of the Dutch Energy ISAC; and Geert Greving, Chair of the International Gas Union Taskforce on Geopolitics and Natural Gas. Both presentations provided a good overview of two key matters affecting the gas industry.

The EASEE-gas meetings in Vienna were attended by over 50 people, representing the different companies that are members of the association. The event started with a social gathering at the Mozarthaus at the heart of Vienna, on Wednesday 18 March. The GMoM took place the following day and it was followed by other internal meetings of the different Working Groups of the association, the Board and the Executive Committee. The GMoM included presentations by the chairs of the 4 Working Groups on the activities carried out last year by each Working Group. The Work Plan for 2015 was presented and approved as well as the 2014 annual accounts and 2015 budget. New members to the Board and Executive Committee of the association were also elected by the membership in Vienna. Rudy Van Beurden (representing Fluxys) was endorsed for a second mandate as chair of the Board of Directors.

Rudy Van Beurden, EASEE-gas Chair, was very satisfied with the event: “we are very pleased to see a growing number of members attending the GMoM. We tried to make it a more dynamic event by inviting experts such as Paul and Geert who gave very interesting speeches on high priority topics for our industry. We are pleased to see the positive response of our members to this new format of our GMoM and we are already gathering ideas for next year’s GMoM.”
