Gas industry is committed to reduce methane emissions

The European gas industry welcomes the recently announced EU Strategy to reduce methane emissions. The sector is committed to play its part in achieving the climate neutrality goal by 2050 provided that enabling measures are implemented. 

In a joint declaration, EASEE-gas together with 12 European gas associations welcome the Methane Strategy’s holistic approach and express their support for the development of appropriate and cost-effective methane mitigation tools.

Methane emissions management and reduction is one of the top priorities for the gas sector. The industry has already been successfully working on reducing methane emissions through mandatory and voluntary programmes and remains determined to step up its efforts in tackling this issue.
