EASEE-gas members met in Budapest on 28 March for the Annual General Meeting of Members

(BRUSSELS, 11 April 2018) 54 EASEE-gas members attended the EASEE-gas General Meeting of Members (GMoM) on 28 March in Budapest, Hungary.

The event started on 27 March with the working group meetings and the kick off meeting of a new Task Force on Hydrogen, Biogas and Energy Transition. The objective of the new Task Force is to collect information on technical developments in the production of hydrogen, biogas and CH4 and on CO2 transport, storage and conversion. Dirk Jan Meuzelaar, USG, was elected Chairman of the Task Force and Michel van den Branden, Fluxys, Task Force Secretary.

During the GMoM, the 2017 association’s activities and results were presented as well as the 2018 work plan. Members approved the 2017 financial report, the 2018 budget and a new membership category for consultant members. Rudy Van Beurden (Fluxys LNG) was reappointed Chair of the Board of Directors and Peter Meeuwis (GasTerra) was reappointed Chair of the Executive Committee. Three new Board Members were also elected: Anita Nyvold (representing Yara International), Guillaume Vens (representing GRTgaz) and Trygve Stensland (representing Statoil). Guillaume Vens is also the new Treasurer of the association.

Two speakers were invited for the panel discussion that followed the event: Jos Dehaeseleer, Secretary General of Marcogaz and Philippe Dujardin, CFO at boostHEAT. Jos Dehaeseleer spoke about the reasons and the effects of the injection of hydrogen in the natural gas grid. Philippe Dujardin presented the creation and development of an innovative thermal compressor called boostHEAT, which can be operated with any kind of gas.

Rudy Van Beurden, EASEE-gas Chair, stated: “the GMoM was particularly well organised this year in the beautiful city of Budapest. Our members appreciated the tour of the city and I am personally pleased with their motivation and enthusiasm about our association’s activities. The creation of the new Task Force on Hydrogen, Biogas and Energy Transition demonstrates the continued interest in gas quality matters and the new membership category is an important step to respond to the growing interest of IT consultancies in joining the association meanwhile keeping a balance between gas companies and consultancies.”
